KID'S (and PARENT'S) KENDO (ages 6-12) - Accepting Members Year-Round
Looking for a fun, safe, inclusive activity for kids that teaches discipline, etiquette, and sportsmanship? Try Kendo: The Way of the Sword! One of the fastest growing martial arts in the world is becoming increasingly popular in Canada. Kids of all ages can benefit from learning the traditional Japanese martial art of Kendo and the 7 principles of Bushido: Integrity, Courage, Mercy, Respect, Honesty, Honour, and Loyalty. Our experienced instructors can guide your kids on their martial arts journey, as they learn lessons that will serve them well beyond the dojo: including self-reliance and responsibility! As a parent would you like to participate? We have options! You can join the Kid's Class for the same $40 Monthly Fee OR if you're a full price member of any of the adult classes (Adult Beginners or Advanced Class) your child can attend kid's class FOR FREE! CONTACT US for more information on our children's class.
JUNIOR KENDO (ages 13-17) - Semester based intakes in May, September, and January
Our Junior Kendo program is open to youths aged 12-17 with no experience necessary! We use a semester based system, with New Student Intakes for the first two weeks of September, January, and May. Simply check our CALENDAR for the Junior Kendo practices during these intake periods, and simply show up! Juniors can participate in 2 weeks of classes before making a decision to join the club and paying fees. There are plenty of basics to learn to safely participate, including footwork, rules, etiquette, and the basic swings, but our students can expect to move to light contact within 2 months, and full contact by the 4th month.
